Feeling blessed@ Padmagireeswarar temple Familiarly known as Abhirami temple, Dindigul.

Legend is that Lord Shiva appeared in a Theertham filled with Lotus to remove the curse of Brahma and hence is known as Padmagireeswarar.

On request of Devas to save them from an Asura named Dindimasura who had invaded Deva lokha Shiva appeared in front of the demon. On seeing the Lord the Asura fell at the feet of the lord and asked to grant him Mukthi. Hence the place was known as Dindeeswaram in olden days.

It is actually a hill temple and iin olden days Only the Utsava murthys were brought down during Brahmotsavam and other festival days to Mandap which was then here. The Linga and Ambica were brought down and this temple was built 600 years ago.
