After Sura samharam Edumban Asthra Guru (warfare  tutor) of Sura Badhman was very much upset. As adviced by Agasthiar he started moving two holy hills Siva giri and Sakthi giri from North to Pothigai hills to attain Mukthi. He used his Bhrama Thandam as beam to carry the hills and used Snake as the rope to tie the two hills to the beam.
 
When Edumban and Edumbi ( wife of Edumban ) reached Aavinankudi (third of the six abodes of Muruga) they were very tired and took rest. When Edumban lifted the Bhrama Thandam the Sakthi Giri side was heavier and he could not lift. He saw Muruga on the hill and requested him to come down and the lord refused and challenged him. An angry Edumban started fighting against Muruga and was killed. Edumbi fell in the feets of Muruga and cried. The Lord appeared and gave life to Edumban. Edumban was then given the job of making  arrows for the Lord. Edumban occupied Sivagiri now known as Edumban Hill. Since Edumban carried the Sakthi Giri  and the Shiva Giri on a beam, the tradition of carrying Kavadi to Lord is followed here by the devotees as a Prarthana.

Achaladeepeswarar temple, Mohanur near Namakkal. The reason for the Lord's name is very much within the sanctum sanctorum. Inside there is air ( oxygen), but there is no wind. So, the ever burning lamp inside the shrine does not flutter or move but is perfectly still. Hence, Lord is praised as Achala Deepeswara.  Achalam means that not wavering and  motionless ( Sthitha Prangya). This happens to be a Parihara Sthala for Rahu and Ketu. Both have separate shrines and people running respective Dasa or having Sarbha dosha come here to do pariharam.This temple is also a Pithru dosha nivarthi Sthala. Normally when you enter any Shiva temple Chandra and Surya will be on the right and left side respectively. But here they are seen next to each other ( together) symbolising Amavasya which is the best day for Pithru tharpanam.   Kamakshi sametha Ekambareswarar temple, Chettikulam near Perambalur. This temple is also known as Kubera temple. There are twelve kuberas seen in different spots in pillars one each for twelve rasis ( Zodiac sign). There is also a separate shrine for Kubera where he is seen with his consort Chitralekha and sanganidhi and padmanidhi. Special Homam is performed on request on Star day of Poorattadhi ( purvabhadra) which is the birth star of Kubera. Seen here are the Kubera for Mesha and Rishaba rasis herewith. Also seen here is a lion with a Stone ball in its   mouth which could be rotated inside the mouth but could not be taken out, seen in top of some 20ft height pillars.   Chettikulam is near Perambalur and there is frequent bus service from perambalur busstand.
